painted market bag :: diy

if you attended our last pinterest party, you already know how to make these fun market bags. but! for all of you who didn't, i thought i'd share this easy DIY. with farmer's market season happening, this is the perfect project for gifting or for keeping!

you'll need:

• a canvas market bag
• painter's tape
• acrylic paint and brushes
• flat cardboard
• scissors or craft knife

the DIY steps:

1. cut a piece of flat cardboard to fit inside your canvas bag. this will keep the paint from leaking through to the other side of your bag.
2. create your design with your painter's tape. be sure to smooth down the edges so you get clean lines.
3. apply a thick coat of acrylic paint
4. important: remove the cardboard before the paint dries. otherwise, your paint will stick to the cardboard and you'll have difficulty sliding it out
5. peel off your tape and your done!

these bags can be washed with no problems, as acrylic paint hardens into a plastic as it dries. enjoy!
