fabric scrap teepee :: DIY

how excited are you?! today we are making a fabric scrap teepee tent for the kiddos. i love this style because you can easily fold in for storage when not using. plus... it gives me reason to rid my craft room of all that fabric!

you'll need:

  • (6) 1 x 2 wood boards
  • a drill & drill bit
  • thick twine
  • fabric scraps
  • hot glue gun & glue
  • clothespins (optional)

the DIY:
  1. begin by drilling a hole on one end, about 4 or 5 inches down
  2. tie your twine through one board hole & knot
  3. grab another board and begin weaving & twisting twine around them
  4. gradually add your boards in your teepee shape, while wrapping each with the twine
  5. once you have your support, it's time to add fabric!
  6. i first wrapped my fabric & held in place with clothespins to make sure i like the way it looked
  7. i then began gluing each piece to the wood boards.
  8. it's fun to bunch & layer your fabric as well. use the glue plentifully. your fabric will serve as a support for your teepee as well, so you'll want to make sure it's on the wood securely.
  9. climb in your teepee with a pillow & enjoy!
