blooming candles :: diy

my favorite part of throwing a party is decorating. i love planning out each tiny detail and making sure there is something lovely for one to rest their eyes on in every nook & on every surface. with spring around the corner, lots of decorating for baby showers, weddings, graduations, etc will be happening. annnndddd,.. if you are anything like me, you are already planning!, so today, i'm here to offer inspiration & instruction for one of the most lovely decorations of all time: the blooming candle.

you'll need:

  • silk flowers
  • glue gun & glue sticks
  • votive holders
  • battery operated votive

the DIY details:
  1. begin by deconstructing your silk flowers. most are simply glued together anyway, so it's just a matter of pulling apart. get out your scissors and/or wire cutters if you need to
  2. glue your first layer of petals around the outer edge of your votive holder.
  3. continue layering your petals, working down.
  4. flip your votive holder over cover completely with petals and/or leaves
  5. turn right side up and place your battery operated candle in the center. it's ok if the petals on the bottom cause your blooming candle to lean one way slightly. this makes a more natural look!
  6. light & enjoy!
