dried wheat bouquet :: diy

although i love a bright bouquet of flowers on my dining table, they just don't seem to fit the rest of the decor this time of year. luckily, dried wheat can fill that empty spot and give you the height that a cut flower bouquet would. o, and p.s. it's a stand-alone.. meaning no vase. that may be the best part of this diy!

you'll need:

  • dried wheat. you can dry this yourself or purchase from a flower shop
  • burlap or lace ribbon
  • grapevine wire
  • scissors
  • rubber-band
  • glue gun
the steps:
  1. cut your wheat pieces if the stems are pretty long. too much height here and they won't stand alone.
  2. secure all pieces tightly with a rubber-band. at this point, you can stand the bouquet on the stems and it should be fairly balanced. if not, widen the stems at the bottom.
  3. using a glue gun, adhere one end of burlap ribbon to the wheat, covering up the rubber-band.
  4. wrap the burlap completely around (several times if you'd like)
  5. use a drop of hot glue to secure then wrap and twist on grapevine.
