  • scissors

the DIY details:
  1. cut your fabric slightly wider than your headband. see picture above
  2. then, cut a curve at the end (optional)
  3. spread some fray check on the ends of that baby

hidden message bracelet :: diy

sneeky, sneeky! these leather bracelets can be personalized and become so special! imagine your anniversary date, kiddos' birthdays, or just a simple love message stamped on the inside. shhh only you know it's there... all while, looking pretty darn cute, if i do say so myself.

have a special message to share? here's how!

you'll need:

  • leather bracelet
  • stamp kit
  • hammer or mallet
  • black permanent marker

the DIY steps:
  1. face your bracelet inside up... meaning the side that will be on your wrist should be facing up
  2. attach your letters to the stamp tool
  3. pound with hammer or mallet
  4. go over letters with black marker, wiping off any access along the way
  5. gift or wear!

watch parts & peter pan :: DIY

i love little bits & pieces of things, don't you? especially watch & clock parts! i have had these, among others, lying around for a while and thought it was time to do something with them.

i'm also loving peter pan collars right now. however, i think they only look appropriate on really innocent, sweet children. i don't think i could pull one off... unless i 'edged' it up a bit and that's exactly what i did!

so, here's the details on my new, edgy, peter-pan-collared watch-part necklace:

you'll need:

  • chain of different varieties
  • old watch & clock pieces
  • jump rings
  • jewelry cutters
  • clasp

the DIY details:
  1. i first glued (e-6000) my pieces together to get a layout that i liked.
  2.  cut my different chains into 3 different lengths. then, in 1/2 again.
  3. this gave me 6 total pieces
  4. i attached one of each chain to the center watch piece using the same jump ring.
  5. repeat on other side
  6. at the opposite end of the chains gather into one jump ring for each side, also looping a clasp on one side.

would you wear this statement piece? i think it would look fantastic with a strapless lbd! xo

diy refashioned hat :: diy fashion upcycle

do you have a few old hats lying around that you don't wear anymore? i certainly do! i buy them, wear them once or twice and they go to the hat graveyard on a shelf in my closet. well, here's a fun way to refashion them into something you'll wear again!

you'll need:

  • hat (new or old)
  • flowers or other accessories. see tutorials for making your own fabric flowers here and here.
  • needle, pins & thread
diy:
  1. decide where you want your accessories to be placed on the hat. i set mine off to the side a bit.
  2. pin each piece in place
  3. use your needle & thread to hand sew each piece from the under side of the hat
  4. double or triple your knot at the end
  5. wear and enjoy!
